Short description
Photos that won't open in a chat, files marked expired, old chats from before a phone change — they're often still inside the iPhone backup on your Mac. LAILOLA is a Mac app that scans that backup on your Mac and shows how many messages, photos and files are still there, free to browse. When you need to keep something, a one-time Pro purchase saves originals and attachments and exports chats as TXT or PDF. No LINE sign-in; nothing is uploaded.
Long description
Thought it was gone? It may still be in your backup. LINE photos and files that were on the phone when an iPhone backup was made may still be in that backup on the Mac. Most people just can't open it.
LAILOLA is a Mac app by Taiwanese independent developer Hank Wang. Users back up their iPhone to their Mac in Finder, open LAILOLA and choose the backup. After the scan, they see how many messages, photos and files are still there. Photos are arranged by year on a photo wall, files by date on a timeline, every chat can be read from the first message, and when the backup holds the text that appears in photos, those photos can be found by their words (like a sign or a screenshot). After the first scan, a few of the earliest photos in the backup play full screen as a short opening memory. All of this is free.
When something is worth keeping, a one-time LAILOLA Pro purchase (US$19.99, no subscription) saves originals to the Mac, saves attachments, exports chats as TXT or PDF, shows all search results and removes ads.
LAILOLA never signs in to LINE and needs no account or password. Everything is processed on the user's Mac, and the original backup is opened read-only. It is also upfront about its limits: encrypted and iCloud backups can't be read at this time, content that was gone before the backup can't be found, and thumbnail-only photos are labeled as thumbnails.
Quotable facts
- LAILOLA reads the user's own local iPhone backup stored on their Mac. It does not connect to the user's LINE account.
- Free: scanning, photo wall, file timeline, reading every chat; search shows the total count and first 5 results.
- Pro is a one-time purchase made through Mac App Store in-app purchase.
- Network use: App Store purchase and restore, ads in the free version (no chat or photo content), public sticker images, and feedback or crash reports the user chooses to send.
- What it can't do is published at lailola.com/en/limits.
